Breeding Real Quarter Horses for Real Quarter Horse People!

Welcome to Anderson Quarter Horses!

Home of MR MAGIC ZIP and the ANDERSON FAMILY.

Anderson Quarter Horses, located in the small town of Haskinsville (between Hornell and Wayland in Steuben County and in the Finger Lake Region of New York State), is home to Mr Magic Zip and the Anderson Family.  Since the late 1960's, both Jerry and Susan Anderson, Owners and Operators of AQH, have worked with Quarter Horses in the states of California, Arizona, and New York.  Since 1976, Jerry and Susan have owned and operated "Shady Brook Farm," their beef cattle ranch, and, in 1990, established Anderson Quarter Horses in Cohocton, New York.  The farm has been home to four children, and now six grandchildren - Kalie, Zach, Bronté, Sean-Patrick, Michaela, and Molly!  We are family owned and operated, and we provide a safe, loving environment for all our animals.

AQH offers: Stallion Services, Ground Training, and limited Lessons and Boarding.  For boarding and associated fee rate schedule visit our 2007 Boarding Rates.

At AQH, we have a strict breeding philosophy.  We breed our horses for looks, intelligence, disposition, athletic ability, style and versatility.  Some of the foals become great halter horses, others terrific pleasure or performance horses, while still others make great trail horses.  We pride ourselves on the all around usefulness of these show-quality family horses, many of which are destined to be winning youth horses.  It is our philosophy that the American Quarter Horse continues to be bred to be the most versatile and loving animal, and to provide a safe and healthy environment while at AQH.

Because disposition is of paramount importance in a great Quarter Horse, many owners bring their mares with troublesome dispositions specifically to breed to Mr Magic Zip because of his amazing disposition.  His foals have all shown to be quiet people-lovers with a drive to please.  "Mr" is so sweet that even our twenty-month-old granddaughter, Molly, can ride him without an adult, kiss him on the nose, or sneak into his stall while he nuzzles her up during chore-time!  (And, don't forget: All Mr Magic Zip progeny are AQHA Incentive Funded!)

Facilities: Due to MR's growing popularity, in 2000, we erected a 60'w x 128'L indoor arena in which to train him and his foals, as well as provide a space in which his mares could be kept up with their own exercise programs while at the farm.  Also on-site are: A horse barn (60' W x 144' L); Several roomy indoor box stables measuring 12' x 12', with 12' x 24' box stalls for mares with foals; Three side-by-side run-ins; A breeding bay; Hay storage, grain/feed room, grooming area and tack room; Several paddocks for daily turn-out.  On-site staff includes a professional trainer, exercise grooms, stable hands, facilities maintenance personnel, and on-call 24-hour a day veterinary services.

Most recently, AQH began working with professional trainer, William T. Hamilton, to provide ground and finish work for AQH horses. He has been on the 2006 show circuit with several of our two, three and four year olds AND several student riders who brought home multiple High Point Championships. We look forward to 2007! Thanks, Bill!

While You're Here!

While you're here at AQH's site, take time to visit all of our additional pages.  There's a touching story about one of MR's 1999 foals called "The Little Foal That Could."   It's all about Zips Magical Destiny and her adventures in becoming a real horse.  Or, take the time to visit Magics Coosa Nicki's page and read all about her story and battle with blindness.

You can also check out Mr Magic Zip's 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 babies' pages.  We're already getting prepared for the Spring 2007 babies who are on their way.  In 2003, we added two new sets of foaling and weaning stalls at our facility.  In addition, you can check out the See How We've Grown page, which will feature MR's babies as they reach adulthood.  Or, just enjoy all the info on Mr Magic Zip.

Whatever you do, be sure to tell us what you think about our guys and dolls! And, if you are interested in bringing home one of our elegant, athletic,  versatile, and superior horses, take a look at all of the Horses for Sale on the site.
